Men's Lifting Tank Top Review

Founder Chris Worman in the Ain't Nothin' but a Peanut Staple Tank Top

Sun's out, guns out! This gym tank serves as a classic bodybuilding tank top for men. It hangs lower around the arms than the muscle shirts on the website, and clearly cuts lower around the neck. The straps are thin, meaning your traps, delts, and upper chest will really pop through. If this is your style, read on to see if this is the cutoff for you.

Gym Staple Tank Sizing

I ordered my usual t-shirt size, large, and was very happy with how the tank top fit. I would say it runs true-to-size, with the length running about standard for a t-shirt. I could lift my arms to do a lat pulldown, for example, and the bottom would only raise up a little bit. It hangs on the traps and shoulders very loosely and comfortably, making it a great option for intense gym sessions. I found that the straps sometimes fold over themselves and stick when sweaty. There's more than enough space for men with larger chests or a little bit of a power gut.

Material Feel

The material is thin, soft, and lightweight, resulting in an airy feel that will keep you cool during your workout. Please note that Wormanator.com has two material options based on the color choice:

  • Base colors are 100% combed and ringspun cotton
  • Tri-blends are 50% polyester/25% combed/25% ringspun cotton/rayon

The materials should feel similar, but the tri-blends will have more stretchiness to them. I prefer polyester blends, which is why I got the red tri-blend Ain't Nothin' but a Peanut tank top. While cotton is notorious for shrinking, this combed and ringspun variety is more refined and higher quality, meaning it's less prone to shrinking. Even so, it's recommended to use warm or cool washing and drying settings (not hot).

Manufacturer Reviews

4.5 out of 5 stars

This staple tank top has over 90 reviews on its company page, with an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars. Most of the negative reviews are leftovers from when the product was listed as unisex. This tank top is clearly for men, so I'll only focus on those reviews. Most reviewers felt that the fit was comfortable, material texture was soft, and print quality was good. A few felt that there was a little bit too much room, while a couple thought it was too thin. The overall consensus was that it's a great men's workout tank top.
