Premium Crew Neck Gym Shirt Review

Founder Chris Worman in the Men's Premium Crew Neck Gym Shirt

Clearly, as you can see in the featured image, this style of lifting shirt will help you take some of your most anabolic bathroom selfies. More seriously, this specific shirt style was what inspired the entire store. I loved how it felt and performed. While there are a couple of negatives behind it, the positives far outweigh them and more than justify the price tag. This review is applicable to both the men's and women's styles.

Performance Shirt Sizing

The first thing I noticed about the shirt was its slightly longer-than-average length. If there's one thing I hate in a shirt, it's when the cut is too short. This is especially true when I'm doing any type of bench press, pull-up, or overhead motion. I found that my standard shirt size, large, fit perfectly. It was long down the gut, but tight enough at the top to offer a fitted look. The tightest spot for me was around the shoulders and arms, but the fabric is stretchy, making for a comfortable fit. For reference, the manufacturer lists this performance shirt as regular fit.

Material Feel

The material for this gym shirt is 95% polyester and 5% elastane. The manufacturer also includes the following descriptors:

  • Premium knit mid-weight jersey
  • Four-way stretch fabric that stretches and recovers on the cross and lengthwise grains

For a meathead like me, all I know is the shirt's light, soft, and good at adapting to my body's shape during athletic movements. It's also breathable and air dries incredibly fast, making it a great sweat-wicking shirt. I highly recommend allowing it to air dry after washing it for greater longevity. Mine is usually good to go after a couple of hours. The last thing I noticed was that it's not slick or slippery feeling like some polyester shirts.

The biggest downside is a result of the color. The shirt originally comes in white, and Wormanator.com's designs with this shirt have a black base. Consequently, the shirt can look like it has lint or fuzz on it. The inside is also white, which is visible if the hems fold up, but I personally like the contrast between the inside, outside, and white designs.

Manufacturer Reviews

4.5 out of 5 stars

There are currently over 170 reviews for this specific men's crew neck t-shirt style, and over 50 for the equivalent women's crew neck t-shirt style, on the manufacturer's webpage. The reviews were virtually the same, and both have an average rating of 4.5 out of 5. The most common feedback is from people who enjoyed the soft and comfortable feel of the shirt. Others were happy with the quality and accuracy of the colors and designs given the cut & sew sublimation process. The negative reviews generally came from people who did not like the feel of the shirt, as it does not feel like a cotton t-shirt. A couple of reviewers felt that the hole for the head was a little too big.
